Digital Data Base of the Lithuanian Space Imagery Map LTDBK50000 at scale 1:50000 consists of vector data base LTDBK50000-V and colorful raster data base LTDBK50000-SR. Digital Data Base of the Lithuanian Space Imagery Map LTDBK50000 at scale 1:50000 covers the whole territory of the Republic of Lithuania (65300 square kilometers).

LTDBK50000 was compiled during the period of 1994–1996, by using the existing maps’ information, digital data bases together with that time most up to date SPOT panchromatic orthophoto material (PAN) and geometrically corrected multispectral (XS) images.

LTDBK50000-V was purposefully revised and updated since the year of 1998. This work was done on the base of the Lithuanian digital orthophotographic map at scale 1:10000 ORT10LT at the same time keeping coding system principles for the information layers. LTDBK50000-V version 1.0.1 was released on the 1^st of July 1998.. LTDBK50000-V version 1.3.0 was released on the 10^th of February 2005.

Graphic information the same as attribute information is revised using orthophotographic material, aslo using information prepared by the State institutions, that are responsible for particular objects monitoring and management.

Data

LTDBK50000 data base includes: geoobjects of land use, water courses, roads, railroads, infrastructure, relief, administrative and restricted nature limits and boundaries. Digital Data Base of the Lithuanian Space Imagery Map LTDBK50000 at scale 1:50000 consists of 135 map sheets.

Geoobjects of LTDBK50000-V or their parts, expressed in graphic primitives, are coded according to SSC Satellitbild coded system “Lithuania: Coding 1995–08-14”. This coding system was coordinated with the Department of Cartography of the former National Land and Geodesy Service (now the National Land Service, Cadastres and Geodesy Department). This coding system was prepared according to “Kartdatabanken, Svenska kommunförbundet, Oktober 1986”.

Mathematical background

LTDBK50000-V map sheet division scheme is done according to ETRS-89 rectangular co-ordinate net and named “Baltija-93”. LTDBK50000-V was recalculated to the co-ordinate system of Lithuania LKS-94 in the year of 1994.

Application range

The digital data base is used for the following purposes:

• as the source data for derivative information systems to create (municipality, national defence, environmental protection, energetics, transportation, territorial planning, logistics, etc.);
• creating digital elevation models;
• map publishing;
• science and educational purposes.

Assignement clauses

LTDBK50000 data is assigned in separate “Baltija-93” division scheme map sheets. LTDBK50000 is not separated in layers.

Vector data base LTDBK50000-V is assigned in ArcInfo format layers. LTDBK50000 data can be organized in library method, converted or passed in different format by a separate agreement. LTDBK50000 data can be mapjoined for particular territories. The copyright of the Vector Data Base LTDBK50000-V of the Lithuanian Space Imagery Map at scale 1:50000 belongs to the National Land Service under the Ministry of Agriculture. LTDBK50000-V is distributed and managed by the State Enterprise “GIS-Centras” according to the author’s commission. The number of licences, disposal possibilities and copyright for LTDBK50000-V is regulated by the licence agreement between the State Enterprise “GIS-Centras” and the User.

Prices

Prices for the Vector Data Base LTDBK50000-V of the Lithuanian Space Imagery Map at scale 1:50000 are the following:

• for the whole territory – 28257 Litas (LTL);
• price for one map sheet depends upon amount of information for particular territory.

One year technical support and consultations concerning vector data LTDBK50000-V:

• for the whole territory – 5500 Litas (LTL);
• price for one map sheet depends upon amount of information for particular territory.
