ORT10LT (black-and-white raster)

Territory covered by ORT10LT

General information

Digital orthophoto is widely used by many of GIS users. It became popular as the base information layer for work with modern GIS technologies. Digital orthophoto is a perspective choice for complete GIS development as the price for computer hard disc space is getting lower and computers are getting faster.

Data

Digital Orthophotographic Map of Lithuania scale 1:10000 ORT10LT is created during the period of 1995–1999 on the background of aerial photography and covers the entire territory of Lithuania. Information of aerial photography was geometrically corrected by reducing image location deformation error down to minimum during the process of orthophotographic map production. ORT10LT raster data resolution is 0.5 m.

Mathematical Background

Mathematical background of ORT10LT comes along with the statements of the resolution No 936 published by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on the 30th of September 1994:

  • co-ordinate system LKS-94;
  • map sheet division scheme and indexes in LKS-94 (2785 map sheets).

Application range

Digital orthophoto can be used for technically specific tasks:

  • planimetric and cadastre mapping;
  • municiplaity data registration and quality control;
  • for precise project analysis and implementation.

Digital orthophoto also can be used for presenting projects and solving disputes in public, because images of real ground surface are easier understood and percepted for untrained glance. There you can see landmarks and recognizable locations. World is constantly changing and digital orthophoto can help to watch and record these changes.

Assignement clauses

ORT10LT raster data are assigned in standard map sheets (2785 map sheets) in the State territory map sheet division system and numbering LKS-94.

ORT10LT raster data are assigned in TIFF data format. Data of one ORT10LT map sheet takes ~100MB. Data can be assigned in different formats upon a separate agreement. Assigning data in MrSID format SID data is compressed by 20 times.

The copyright of Digital Orthophotographic Map of Lithuania scale 1:10000 ORT10LT to the National Land Service under the Ministry of Agriculture. Official authorized distributor of ORT10LT is the State Enterprise “GIS-Centras”. Digital Orthophotographic Map of Lithuania scale 1:10000 ORT10LT is distributed by signing licence agreement with the State Enterprise “GIS-Centras”.
